Bill Edginton was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1938. He
graduated from the University of Canterbury with a Master's degree in
Russian. His early career was in the former Department of External
Affairs where he had postings in Geneva and London. Participation in a
UNESCO General Conference in Paris led him to a position with the New
Zealand National Commission for UNESCO. He worked generally in the field
of international education and became Manager for International
Education in the New Zealand Ministry of Education.
